Technology Firm to Triple Employment in Zionsville
Lt. Governor Becky Skillman joined executives from wireless management provider, Bluefish Wireless Management Inc., to announce the company will expand its operations here, creating up to 150 new jobs by 2013.
The Zionsville-headquartered firm, which oversees wireless device management services for many Fortune 100 companies, will invest $2.7 million to grow its existing space at the Northwest Technology Park from 20,000 square-feet to 60,000 square-feet.
"Indiana continues to see impressive job creation from our many entrepreneurial IT firms," said Skillman. "Companies like Bluefish Wireless develop technologies that allow companies around the world to be more successful and I am proud that their game-changing innovations were born here in the Hoosier State."
The nine-year-old company provides services including procurement, custom kitting, billing and customer service for more than 500,000 wireless devices. The firm currently employs more than 70 associates and will begin hiring additional customer service and IT workers in the first quarter of the year.
"We are thrilled to be able to announce our expansion in our hometown," said Joshua Garrett, director of Bluefish. "We sincerely appreciate the assistance of Boone County and the state of Indiana. The incentives offered will allow us to hire needed employees more quickly as well as invest in the equipment that is necessary in order to stay on the cutting edge of technology. The quality of employees we're able to find in central Indiana is what makes our company successful. Our customers constantly mention the 'Hoosier Hospitality' they experience when interacting with our employee base, we're excited to add to that base with this announcement."
In 2009, Bluefish Wireless Management was selected by the Indiana Economic Development Corporation and its Small Business Development Center network as one of the 50 Indiana Companies to Watch. The accolade, presented in partnership with Purdue University and the Edward Lowe Foundation, recognizes the state's privately held businesses that employ up to 150 employees and have between $750,000 to $100 million in annual revenue or working capital.
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation has offered Bluefish Wireless Management Inc. up to $875,000 in performance-based tax credits and up to $50,000 in training grants based on the company's job creation plans. Boone County will consider providing tax increment finance funds to assist the company with equipment purchases at the request of the Boone County Economic Development Corporation.
"We are very proud that Bluefish Wireless has chosen to increase its investment in Zionsville and pursue this important expansion project," said Matt Price, Town Council president. "We are particularly proud in this instance because Bluefish represents a locally-owned business that is rising to national prominence as one of America's fastest growing companies. Our wish is for Bluefish to continue to prosper just as the town it calls home continues to prosper."
Bluefish Wireless Management's expansion in central Indiana comes just one day after bicycle parts manufacturer, Zipp Speed Weaponry, and pharmacy benefits provider, Express Scripts, announced they would expand operations in Indianapolis, adding nearly 300 new jobs and more than $17 million in new capital investment.
