Indianapolis —
One year ago, Zionsville sophomore Kyle DeCoursey wasn’t part of the post-season roster for the Zionsville swimming and diving team.
A lot changed in one year. DeCoursey placed in three events Saturday at the IHSAA Swimming and Diving Meet, placing in a tie for 13th in the 50-yard freestyle and anchoring the 15th-place 400-yard freestyle relay and 16th place 200-yard freestyle relay.
“A year ago he wasn’t even in the sectional meet,” Zionsville head coach Scott Kubly said. “And now here he is, placing in the top-16 in an event and being the anchor in our relays. He has been a rock for us all season long.”
DeCoursey swam 21.59 in his 50-yard freestyle to tie for 13th.
In the 200-yard freestyle relay, he teamed with Rory Coscia, Cameron Gelwicks and Charlie Hicks in a time of 1:29.41 and in the 400-yard freestyle relay, he teamed with Ryan Bohl, Beau Boggs, and Conner Gelwicks in a time of 3:15.03.
