Eagles blow past Plainfield in second half

Plainfield — Despite shooting 50 percent in the first half Tuesday night, Feb. 19, against Plainfield, the Zionsville boys basketball team only held a five-point lead because they allowed Plainfield to control the tempo and get to the foul line.

That all changed after the halftime break. Zionsville shot 65 percent, forced 11 turnovers and out-scored the Quakers 43-26 in the second 16 minutes, cruising to a 70-48 road win.

“The first half Plainfield did a good job of dictating the tempo,” Zionsville head coach Shaun Busick said. “They were really patient and had long possessions — and because of that, we sped up a little bit. They were controlling the tempo and we wanted to get out and run a little bit. For us, it was important to come out in that third quarter to come out aggressive. Because if we were passive, they could get back in the game and really hold the ball. We made it a higher possession game in the third quarter and did it very unselfishly. We moved the ball really, really, well.”
