Eagles ruin Tigers’ homecoming 35-17

Fishers hosted Zionsville for homecoming Friday evening, Sept. 28, and the host Tigers celebrated the fifth anniversary of their first graduating class since re-opening as a high school.

That was about the only thing they celebrated.

The visiting Eagles were rude houseguests on the evening, stunning the Class 5A No. 10-rated Tigers (5-2, 5-2 Hoosier Crossroads Conference) with four first half touchdowns to open a big lead and hold on for a 35-17 victory.

“This was a big win and probably our best game against a quality opponent like Fishers in several years,” Zionsville coach Larry McWhorter said. “We talked before the game about how their defense is one of the best we have seen this year and I really don’t know what to say except that we overcame it.”
