Eagles double up at own invitational

Zionsville — The Zionsville boys and girls swimming and diving teams continued their dominance of their own invitational Saturday, Dec. 15.

The girls won 11 of the 12 events, taking the team title 1,271-1,008 over Terre Haute South.

The boys meet was closer, but the Eagles took home sixth individual titles to hold off Terre Haute South 607-569. “We performed very, very well,” Zionsville head coach Scott Kubly said. “We had some really good swims on both sides. We told the guys team in the locker room before it started that it was going to come down to Terre Haute South and us, and it was going to be close. The guys did what they needed to. I told the girls they needed to keep up the intensity and swim fast, and they did that as well.”

Kubly said that along with the conference and sectional meets, this meet was one the Eagles always like to do well in.
