It is a call that the Zionsville Lady Eagles soccer program will be talking about for a long time.
A questionable obstruction call led directly to a tying Brebeuf goal and handed the Braves momentum in the regional championship game Saturday, Oct. 13, at Zionsville. The Braves ultimately went on to win 4-3 to end the Eagles’ season.
“It is a shame (that the call affected the game),” Aguillon said. “I understand that everyone makes mistakes and referees are human, but when you have a game of this caliber, you can’t make that call. You make that call, and it completely changed the outcome of the game, you completely changed the pace of the game; and you completely change what is happening on the field. We were up 2-1; we were controlling the game, close to scoring a third goal. ... It changed the game.”
