Lady Eagles fall to HSE Royals

Fishers — The Zionsville girls basketball team has faced some of the top teams in the state of Indiana this season.

But they may have seen the best of the bunch Saturday, Jan. 12, when they faced Hamilton Southeastern. The Royals controlled from the opening tip and won 65-20.

“I think they are the best team we played,” Zionsville head coach Andy Maguire said. “We didn’t get to see Westfield with (Jenn) Anderson, but (HSE) beat them. So this is probably the best team in our conference and sectional; they just do everything well.”

Miss Basketball candidate Taya Reimer led the Royals with 28 points and nine rebounds while playing just three quarters.

The Eagles had no answers for her inside or out.

“I think she should be Miss Basketball,” Maguire said. “She didn’t have to show her whole game tonight, she could just go inside against us. She is just a great allaround player. Initially our goal was to keep her under 15, and she doubled that. They were too physical for us, we didn’t get may shot opportunities.

"And even if we hit every shot it wouldn’t be close."
