Felde celebrates one year at Christ Church
Christ Church, The Lutheran Church of Zionsville, is celebrating Christine Felde’s one year anniversary as the Early Childhood Ministry Director.
Since Felde began her employment with Christ Church last year, she has brought many positive changes to Christ Church’s preschool program. For instance, she started instituting home visits by the teachers to all students, began a student ministry for pediatric patients at a local hospital, and was instrumental in helping the ECM become a Registered Ministry as certified by the state of Indiana, making Christ Church one of three in the area.
“Christine Felde has brought her enthusiastic commitment and capable leadership of early childhood education in the context of the Christian faith to the Early Childhood Ministry at Christ Church,” Rev. Dr. Steven E. Albertin of Christ Church said. “Over the last year the children and their families have been blessed by her leadership and her love of children. As a result the school has continued to become increasingly effective in carrying out its mission.”
Felde comes to Christ Church with a strong Christian background as well as a bachelor of arts and a master of arts in education from Concordia University. Moreover, Felde and her husband served as missionaries in Papua New Guinea. While there, Felde shared her teaching skills in many ways, including starting a Lutheran Preschool with 81 children. After 14 years of work, she returned to the U.S. with her husband and four children. Together, her family has served three parishes in Indiana.
In addition, Felde has worked as a teacher for many years in Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas and Indiana. She has also worked at various times teaching Early Childhood Development at Ivy Tech and directing a YMCA aquatics department.
