Union principal takes down former Colt

It’s not often that a female elementary school principal battles a former NFL offensive lineman, and it’s even more unlikely for her to be victorious.

That is exactly what happened at Union Elementary Thursday afternoon, Oct. 4, when Becky Coffman defeated former Colts player Ryan Diem in a sumo wrestling competition.

The battle was a reward for the students of Union meeting their fundraising goal of $22,000 for Jog-A-Thon. The students raised a total of $22,943 and ran a total of 7,178 laps, which is the equivalent of 1,794.5 miles.

See Wednesday’s paper for the full story.
