• Boys’ and Girls’ Leagues — now until July 15. Boys’ games are at 6 p.m., 7 p.m. or 8 p.m. Monday nights. Girls’ games are at 6 p.m., 7 p.m. or 8 p.m. Wednesdays. The cost is $200 per team. Seeded championship game with T-shirts for league winners.
• Junior Golf Camps —10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays now to Aug. 4 for grades third to eighth. 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays from July 6 to July 10 for grades fifth to eighth. Learn the fundamentals of golf including etiquette and rules, full golf swing, course management and short game on both the practice range and the golf course. The camp will end with a child/parent tournament including great prizes for participants. Don’t own clubs? We will have a limited amount of junior and adult-sized clubs available. The cost is $25 for members and $70 for non-members.
• Camp Laffalot — 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 13-17. For grades first to sixth. Laffalot summer camp is a high energy, high activity day camp that introduces a variety of sports, games and activities in a fun-packed day. The cost is $103/week. Register online at www.laffalotcamps.com.
• Basketball Shooting Camp — 9 a.m. to noon July 27 to July 31. For grades third to eighth. The cost is $65 for members and $100 for non-members.
CCA Gallery presents exhibition
An exhibition of original paintings and photography, by painter Robert Vegeler and photography by Ann Palmer, and a reception will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, July 3 at CCA Gallery, 27 E. • Library Closed — The Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library will be closed Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day. The library is also closed each Sunday through Sept. 6 as part of the usual summer schedule. The library will reopen at 9:30 a.m. Monday, July 6.
• Computer Classes — Various times from now till July 23, computer lab. Contact the library for more information on times/dates for classes in PowerPoint, Excel, intro. and intermediate Word, digital picture basics, and more. Cost for the three-hour sessions is $25.50. Students will also be given manuals.
• Movie Mondays — 3:30 p.m. Monday, July 6. A summer movie event for students entering grades K to fifth. This week’s feature will be the 2001 animated Disney film Atlantis. Popcorn and lemonade will be provided.
• Puppet workshop — 2 p.m. Mondays, July 6, 13 and 20 for grades third to fifth. Cost is $10.
• Around the World With Magic Tree House — 1 p.m. Tuesdays, July 7, 14, 28 and Aug. 4. Grades first and second. A weekly read-aloud story program that allows participants to travel to all seven continents in their imagination as they listen to the tales of Jack and Annie in the Magic Tree House story series. A related craft is included.
• Wii Play Games — 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesdays, July 7, 14, 21 and 28, Teen Area. Teens may play Wii and other games during this relaxed weekly series of programs.
• Build a Plane with Montgomery Aviation — 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 7. Aircraft experts from Montgomery Aviation will teach students entering grades second to fifth the principles of flight during this hands-on, interactive program.
• An All-American Patriotic Musical Tour — 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 7. American patriotic classical and jazz music will be explored during this informal music appreciation event.

Concert Band to hold two events
The Zionsville Concert Band is offering a free Happy Birthday America concert at Speedway’s Meadowbrook Park, Parkwood Drive and Meadowood Drive at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, July 4. They also will perform a free patriotic concert, in Lions Park at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 5 to kickoff the Lions Park Concert Series.

• Sign up online for summer art camps at www.sullivanmunce.org. A few spots still remain for 2009 Summer Art Camps at the center. Camps run through August and feature themes around nature, science, recycling and music, as well as clay and ceramics. Camps are offered for ages 4 to 11 and fees vary. Instructors are professionals in their fields of art and drama.
‘Summer at Maplelawn’
camp offered
It’s time to register for camp at Maplelawn Farmstead, 9575 Whitestown Road in Zionsville. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 6 to 10 and Aug. 3 to 7. Cost is $180 per week.
A 1930’s era farmstead provides the backdrop for ‘Summer at Maplelawn,’ a history day camp designed especially for children entering grades fourth to sixth. Campers will enjoy plenty of free play, as well as participate in a variety of historically-relevant learning activities, including gardening, building, gaming, cooking, crafting and creating. Ice cream social
slated for July 19
The Salem United Methodist Church, Kissel Road (800 E) South of S.R. 334, is hosting an ice cream social from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, July 19. The event includes ice cream, sandwiches, salads, homemade pies and cakes. A free-will offering will be taken, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the Salem Church College Scholarship fund. Farmers Market
open until Sept. 26
The Zionsville Farmers’ Market will be open every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. until Saturday, Sept. 26, at the corner of Main and Hawthorne streets. The Zucchini Race will take place at the market on July 11. Entry forms and wheels for the Zucchini Race will be available at the market this weekend. The market features vegetables, fruits, meat, eggs, homemade pastas, baked goods and gourmet foods, salsas and dips, honey, flowers, herbs and plants.

Boone County Community Clinic recently awarded BOOST grant
The Community Foundation of Boone County has named the Boone County Community Clinic as a recipient of a BOOST Grant — Building Organization’s Operational Sustainability Today. The BOOST Grant will be used to fund training of a part time grant development and compliance manager for the clinic.
