It is that time of year again.
Yes, the obvious back-to-school time, but along with that good comes the bad, back to school lunch time. In keeping with a longstanding family tradition, I do not like to pack lunches. I do it, but I certainly wouldn’t list packing lunches as a hobby.
My mom packed dad’s lunch every day for about 100 years. Most of the time, dad’s lunch consisted of a fried egg sandwich to eat mid morning, two lunch meat sandwiches, two hard boiled eggs in a waxed paper bag and a snack cake of some sort. The kind of lunch meat varied from week to week, and the snack cakes were a different box each week, but the format was as sure as the sunrise each morning.
