Watching TV and movies as a kid, it seemed to me that every town in America held an elaborate go-kart race, complete with punk kid who tries to cheat, dramatic triumphant conclusions and giant gold trophies.
In real life, I had never seen one.
But my own children are lucky — an elaborate go-kart race (possibly with dramatic conclusion, punk kid optional) will be within walking distance of our front door this weekend.
Nearly a year ago, Whitestown residents Denny Marsh and Mike Prescott, as well as Mike Hornyak of Columbus — all drivers for the Southern Indiana Racing Association — proposed plans for the Whitestown Grand Prix to the town council.
