Lloyd Woodford Hughes Jr., 70, of Lebanon, died Friday, March 15, 2013, at his residence.  

Hughes was born Nov. 10, 1942, in Corydon. He was the son of the late Lloyd and Vivian (Kiger) Hughes. He was married in 1977 to Marsha (Stevens) Hughes, and she survives.

Lloyd graduated from Brookville High School, attended Indiana University and the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. He was retired from AFLAC Insurance and was formerly a detective sergeant with the Indiana State Police. Lloyd received numerous awards and honors while employed with AFLAC and the ISP. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lebanon and had also attended Elizaville Christian Church. Lloyd loved spending time with his grandkids. He also loved to camp, golf, travel and drink coffee every morning with the guys at the local café. He loved spending time with people, and people loved spending time with him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Tammy (Randy) Armfield of Marion, Jeff Hughes of Indianapolis, Denise (Scott) Black of Indianapolis, Ron (Melissa) Weaver of Thorntown, Scott (Misty) Weaver of Lebanon, and Mindy (Greg) Hedge of Lebanon; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild, plus one great-grandchild on the way.

Family and friends gathered Tuesday, March 19, for visitation. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, with Terry Thorne and Ed Rourke officiating in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Hughes will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery.
