Stanley Dean Armstrong

Lebanon

Zionsville —  Stanley Dean Armstrong, 61, of Lebanon, died Thursday morning, Dec. 20.

He was born on June 22, 1951 in Lebanon, to the late Loren Earl and Fern Elizabeth (Everett) Armstrong.

In his youth, he attended Perry Central Elementary School and graduated from Lebanon Sr. High School with the class of 1969.

On Aug. 18, 1973, he married his high school sweetheart, Linda S. (Basey) Armstrong. She survives.

Stan worked his whole life as a plumber, at one time being the youngest master plumber in Indiana. He attended Heritage Bible Baptist College and on Oct. 21, 1989, and became an ordained minister. He served 16 years as the youth pastor at Lebanon Bible Baptist Church.

At age 26, his journey with cancer started and he fought it hard for 35 years. He was always cheerful and never complained about his lot in life. He had the gift of an encourager.

His greatest joy was his son, Anthony “Andy”, and granddaughters, Peyton and Paige Armstrong. In his granddaughter’s words, he was the “best papaw.”

Stan was a member of Zionsville Fellowship Church in Zionsville. An avid Indianapolis Colts fan, Stan held season tickets since 1994.

He is survived by his wife, Linda S. Armstrong; his son, Anthony “Andy” (Jennifer) Armstrongr; two granddaughters, Peyton and Paige Armstrong; two sisters, Nina (Carl) Crane and Rebecca (David) Merritt, all of Lebanon; and a brother, J. Edward (Kim) Armstrong of Brownsburg; many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and a loving church family.

In addition to his parents, Stan was preceded in death by a brother, William E. Armstrong. He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

Funeral Services were Monday, Dec. 24, at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Rev. Tom Streeter and Rev. Bob Ash officiated. Interment followed at Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Fayette.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
