Anne “Chris” Christine Franson of Zionsville

Anne “Chris” Christine Franson, beloved wife, mother, sister and friend passed away Tuesday, May 15, surrounded by her loving family.

Born Feb. 25, 1953 in Hudson, Wis., Chris graduated from Wauwatosa East High School. She then attended Drake University, earning a degree with honors in special education, where she met and later married her husband Tim.

Chris taught at schools in both Illinois and Zionsville, then worked as a real-estate agent for 12 years before changing her focus to service and volunteer organizations. An avid philanthropist, she served on the board and chaired the Grants Committee for Women’s Fund, was on the board for Dress for Success, the Zionsville Education Foundation and served on United Way committees. She was also a long-time volunteer and event chair for The Villages of Indiana.

Chris was honored to have co-chaired Gov. Mitch Daniels’ election night event in 2004. Chris was dedicated to her faith and was a past Deacon at Zionsville Presbyterian Church. Her greatest passion was time with her family and friends whom she enriched daily with her wisdom and caring spirit. She truly enjoyed traveling, the arts, nature and her love of warm weather was exceeded only by her genuine and sunny disposition.

Chris is survived by her husband, Dr. Tim Franson, and her children Scott (Katee), Becky, and Melissa (Nick), her grandson Max, as well as her brothers Mike and Jim Hassett.

A memorial service in her honor was Saturday, May 19, at the Zionsville Presbyterian Church, 4775 W. 116th St.
