James M. Schultz, Sr., 71, of Zionsville, formerly of Lebanon, passed away June 4, 2009.
Schultz was a retired carpenter. After retiring, he could be found working at Akard True Value Hardware or volunteering his time at Witham Hospital. Those who knew Schultz knew how he loved to fish and play golf with his buddies.
Schultz was a former member of Zion Masonic Lodge No. 197, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis and was a past patron of the Zionsville Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. In addition to his Masonic involvements, he was also a member of American Legion Post No. 79 in Zionsville, the Carpenters Union Local No. 60 and was a 1956 graduate of New Ross High School.
He is survived by his children, James Schultz Jr. of Lebanon; Fred Schultz of Florida; and Jacki Vega of Marco Island, Fla.; sisters, Jackie Crumm and Carol Branstetter, both of Crawfordsville; caregiver and former spouse, Janet Schultz of Zionsville; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Oscar and Edith Schultz; brother, Stan; daughters, Debbie Halford and Judi O’Neal; grandchildren, Tammy Schultz and Kenny O’Neal; and his wife, Mary Lou Landes.
At Schultz’ request, no services were planned. Arrangements were entrusted to Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center-Zionsville. Memorial contributions may be made in Schultz’ memory to the Boone County Cancer Society.
