Boone considered for Subaru parts distribution center

Zionsville — An engineering company met with Boone County officials Monday, Dec. 17, to discuss plans for a 700,000 square foot building that could be constructed at county roads 400 South and 500 East, an area that is targeted for annexation by both Lebanon and Whitestown.

The building is one of five sites being proposed by commercial real estate brokers for a distribution center for Subaru parts and accessories, said Dax Norton, director of the Boone County Economic Development Corp.

The site is now under the jurisdiction of the Boone County Area Plan Commission, in an area that is being considered for annexation by Lebanon and by Whitestown. APC director Rachel Cardis said Monday afternoon that no applications, formal or informal, have been filed with her office involving the proposed new building.

“There is an existing company in our county that is looking to expand; they are a well-known name from Lafayette,” Norton said after Highway Superintendent Rick Carney told the Boone County Commissioners that he was meeting at 1:30 p.m. Monday with Structurepoint Inc. representatives to discuss the building.

“One of the sites (Subaru of America is) looking at is that particular piece of ground,” Norton confirmed.
