Earth moving for new parking and bridges over Green Ditch at Traders Point Christian Church in Whitestown, has been stopped by the Boone County Drainage Board until the church receives clearance and permits from local and state agencies.
A contractor had begun excavation for those projects and a detention pond without obtaining the required permits from the county, Whitestown, the Indiana Department of Environ-mental Management, Indiana Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, County Surveyor Ken Hedge said.
It will be two or three more months before IDEM, DNR and the Corps of Engineers issue the permits, Hedge said. Approval of drainage plans for the project is also required from the county and Whitestown.
Work had started on a bridge from County Road 650 South to the church’s north parking lot, Hedge said. Some of the dirt was being dumped in a flood plain, he said. The church must find “compensatory storage” for that fill.
