Residents of Whitestown and Worth Township will have the choice to approve a reorganization question on the Tuesday, Nov. 6, ballot.
Officials from Whitestown and Worth Township approved the ballot question during a July 17 meeting. The Worth Township-Whitestown Reorganization Committee created the plan, which, if approved, would take effect Jan. 1, 2013.
Whitestown Town Manager Tom Combiths said he was not sure if there would be any additional taxes for residents to pay if the referendum question does pass.
“The matter will be subject to a referendum, and until that takes place the tax rate is subject to change,” he said. “We don’t really know what the tax rate will be until the transition year (2013) is over. Until the transition board approves a 2014 budget, we won’t know what that tax rate will be.”
