Dull Farm in top 10 of barn preservation contest
Save a barn, fund the National FFA organization.
Western Boone’s FFA is participating in the Campbell Soup Company’s “preserve a barn” contest, group advisor Don Haberline said.
On the Web site www.helpgrowyoursoup.com, Campbell’s lists 10 barns, including one at Dull’s Christmas Tree Farm north of Lebanon, that are eligible for preservation.
The intent is to teach the public about agriculture and nutrition, Campbell’s said, and support national, state and local FFA chapters.
Tom Dull explains the barn’s significance in a video on the Web site.
The barn is the first building customers see as they approach the farm on Blubaugh Avenue, said Kerry Dull. The barn is used for a petting zoo during school tours.
Also participating in encouraging votes for the Dull barn is the Clinton Prairie FFA.
Five barns will be selected, the company said. Votes are cast by clicking on a barn’s icon; Campbell’s will match each vote with $1, up to $250,000.
Other barns are in Brainerd, Minn.; Bloomfield Hills and Bark River, Mich.; Whitehall, Ill.; Lewis, Iowa; Seneca, S.C.; Climax, N.C.; Stauton, Va.; and Union Bridge, Md.
Voting began Thursday and ends Jan. 5. One vote can be cast per day.
