Resident seeks road treatment

At least $30,000 would be required to pave a road, eliminating a dust hazard for a man who has lost part of a lung and has asked the Boone County Commis-sioners for help.

Jess Brockway, 227 N. CR 700 E, Whitestown, approached the commissioners on Aug. 21, asking if it were possible to have three-tenths of a mile of the road treated with dust-suppressing chemicals or paved. A chip and seal treatment would work, Brockway said, citing his experience in asphalt repair.

Paving must go from intersection to intersection, however, Commissioner Charles Eaton said, and that means the road would have to be hard-surfaced between Indiana 32 and CR 100 N, a distance of one mile.

    The Zionsville Community Schools Board of Trustees, at its Monday, June 10 meeting, authorized Superintendent Scott Robison to move forward on capital projects totalling more than $15.2 million — with the stipulation that the projects don’t go over the proposed budget and that the board will have input throughout the process.
