Dow deal excludes 26 acres

Size of land deal down to 100 acres

Zionsville — The proposed land deal to purchase the Dow Chemical land on 106th Street east of Zionsville Road has been amended.

Mike Latz, president of the redevelopment commission, said the RDC has taken the 26 acres of Remediation Area Two out of the agreement. This exclusion would bring the amount of land sold down to 100 acres.

Latz spoke during the town council agenda setting meeting Monday morning, Dec. 17, to keep the council up to date on the proposed partnership between the RDC and Zionsville Community Schools.

“We are now looking at just Remediation Area One, which is north of 106th Street and east of Dahlia (Drive),” he said. “Remediation Area One has been issued a covenant not to sue by (the Indiana Department of Environmental Management), which means the remediation is finished in that area.”
