Fouch receives suspended sentence, 180 days probation

Whitestown Police Major James R. Fouch, 63, was given Friday, Aug. 24, a suspended 180-day jail sentence and placed on 180 days of probation for his July 25 conviction on deception charges.

He was also fined $159.50 and assessed $166 court costs. He will have to pay $100 to the Boone County Probation Department but not make monthly visits to a probation officer, and he is free to travel.

Fouch has been on paid administrative leave since an investigation led by a special prosecutor and an Indiana State Police detective resulted in accusations of theft, official misconduct and deception. The theft charge was dismissed during the trial; the jury acquitted Fouch of official misconduct but convicted him of deception.
