Town eyes Main Street site

Papa doesn’t want the site to ‘get away’

Zionsville — The Zionsville Town Council wants to know how much it would cost to buy the PNC bank building and lot on Main Street.

The council unanimously voted 6-0 Monday night, March 4, to allow Council President Jeff Papa to identify two appraisers to assess the PNC building and adjoining lot at 390 S. Main St. Councilwoman Susana Suarez was not at the meeting.

“This resolution initiates the process of appraising and potentially purchasing the property,” Councilman Steve Mundy said. “This is just for the appraisal.”

Councilman Tom Schuler asked if there were any ideas about the future use of the property.

“The thought is for us to check it out rather than let it get away so we have some control over the future use,” Papa said. “We would also not be losing the farmer’s market (which is held in the parking lot) at the same time.”
