Top 2: Several commercial development projects announced

Zionsville — Several large development projects for Zionsville were proposed in 2012 in an effort to diversify the tax base.

The largest project announced was the FedEx Ground distribution facility, which would be part of a larger business park on 90 acres from 106th Street south to Hoosier Village. The project is being developed by Scannell Properties.

The Zionsville Redevelopment Commission approved a series of agreements to get the ball rolling on the project during its Aug. 27 meeting.

The RDC agreed to extend sewer and water utilities in the area of the development, extend Bennett Parkway further south and giving Landscapes Unlimited $150,000 to help relocate.

According to documents filed with the planning department, the distribution center will have five buildings on nearly 44 acres. The plan commission unanimously approved the plan during its Sept. 17 meeting.
