No connection found in Whitestown deaths

Zionsville — After six months of reviewing data, the Whitestown Review Group has found no connection between the deaths of three children in the Walker Farms subdivision.

The group, which included members of the Whiteston fire and police departments and Boone County Health Department, reviewed soil samples, water samples, toxicology reports and autopsy results.

During an October meeting, the group reviewed results from soil samples in the subdivision that were tested by a private laboratory and reviewed by the Environmental Protection Agency.

“The EPA determined that the heavy metal form of greatest concern, hexavalent chromium, was not detected in any of the samples,” a release stated. “The levels of trivalent chromium were well below levels of potential health concern and actually below expected background levels for the state of Indiana.”
