Library hosts End of Summer Carnival Friday

The Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library will host the annual End of Summer Carnival from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, for families and residents of all ages. Help celebrate the end of Summer Reading and the library’s 50th Birthday by attending the End of Summer Carnival. There will be outdoor carnival games and prizes, face painting, a bounce house, a Zionsville fire truck, Zionsville firefighters and music. Mark from Mark’s Ark will be here with some of his favorite animal friends. Birthday cake, water and popcorn will be available for everyone. Hot dogs and drinks will be available for purchase from the Friends of the Library. Bring the family to our Fifth Street parking lot and come join the celebration – rain or shine!

Part of the Witham Walkers team, they said they were taking turns with at least a dozen other team members walking around the “track.” Denae Barnett, Relay for Life coordinator, said, as of press time, the event raised $86,000. Participants have raised more than $1 million during the past 10 years.

     The ZCS Class of 2013 graduated Sunday, June 6. James Lewis was the senior speaker; and Hannah Biggs was the senior singer. Class officers — President Sara Zaheer, Vice President Eric Regele and Secretary/Treasurer Claire Poindexter — gave a group speech, and Katelyn McCarthy and Adam Pease were recognized as salutatorians.

  • ZCS board OKs high school additions

    The Zionsville Community Schools Board of Trustees, at its Monday, June 10 meeting, authorized Superintendent Scott Robison to move forward on capital projects totalling more than $15.2 million — with the stipulation that the projects don’t go over the proposed budget and that the board will have input throughout the process.
