The Zionsville Country Veterinary Clinic is looking for gently used and/or new mittens, gloves and hats to donate to Shalom House in Lebanon.
Sharon Parrotte, a clinic employee, says the idea is based on the children’s nursery rhyme, “Three Little Kittens who Lost Their Mittens.”
“It seemed like a logical tie-in with a group that helps children in need and our veterinary clinic,” she said.
This is the third year the clinic has done something like this and their only goal Parrotte says is to do better than they did last year. She doesn’t know the amount but said they filled two copy paper boxes full of clothing.
“People who donate are rewarded not only with that wonderful feeling of helping those in need but also with a homemade cookie,” she said.
The fundraiser will kickoff on Friday, Nov. 23, and will run through Dec. 15.
“We want to give people time to donate yet get the mittens to the kids in time to be used during cold weather,” Parrotte said.
