Commissioner Marc Applegate is trying to bridge a gap between the Boone County Council and Board of Commissioners.
He introduced a resolution Monday, Aug. 20, endorsing the use a 1940s-era steel truss bridge to carry Ford Road over Eagle Creek. A vote, however, was tabled until at least the next commissioners’ meeting on Sept. 4.
If approved, the resolution would commit the county to widening the bridge by two feet, making it 26.4 feet wide.
“It’s my feeling we ought to go to the council one more time” to request funding for the bridge, Applegate said. “If they are not willing to fund this, then we have no other option than to do nothing.”
