Food pantry seeks donations

Zionsville — The Thanksgiving holiday is just weeks away, and the Zionsville Food Pantry is hoping for food donations so those in need can get a hot meal.

Nancy Thompson, Zionsville Food Pantry coordinator and 10-year volunteer, says many businesses and organizations hold food drives throughout the year including Ascension Health Ministry who donated more than 13,000 items at the end of August. They also receive items from local farm producers, The Boys and Girls Clubs of Zionsville, Boy Scouts, St. Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church, local post offices and the Zionsville Community Schools.

“We are responsible for buying or providing 50 percent of the food to participate in federal programming and we rely heavily on food drives and community programming,” Thompson said.
