Zionsville Fire Department and Zionsville Police Department officials responded to a gas leak at a future KeyBank location.
Construction workers excavating a site along Oak Street struck a gas main Thursday morning, June 25, forcing the crew to evacuate the area. The crew is constructing a KeyBank location at 1578 West Oak St. No homes in the area were forced to evacuate, and only one business, Anytime Fitness, closed during the leak. Fumes could be smelled as far east as Zionsville Town Hall, 1100 West Oak St. The gas company closed the gas line after less than an hour.
