Drivers making the commute from Interstate 65 to the Whitestown/Zionsville exit may notice a change, a new road name.
The Whitestown Town Council unanimously voted to change the name of Ind. 334 to Whitestown Parkway during its meeting Tuesday night, Sept. 11. Only the portion of Ind. 334 that is within the limits of Whitestown will be affected by the change.
The name change had been discussed for several months, but the renaming became a priority after a meeting with the Indiana Department of Transportation.
“I had a meeting with INDOT about why one of our projects didn’t come up on their radar,” Whitestown Public Utility Manager Jason Lawson said. “They basically told me they wouldn’t do a project without a name on the road.”
The council discussed several different options during the meeting.
