Replacement of Ford bridge remains in limbo

Money to complete the installation of a steel truss bridge that would replace the deteriorating Ford Road bridge remains in limbo.

No vote was taken on a request by Commissioner Marc Applegate to reauthorize $116,000 that the council had removed from the bridge construction budget in July during the Tuesday, Sept. 11, Boone County Council meeting. No legal vote could be taken, Council President Steve Jacob said, because the action would be considered a reappropriation, and a legally-required advertisement informing the public about the vote had not been published.

“At least take a hand vote,” Applegate said. “Tell me what to do.”
