Head over heels: Brains meet brawn

Interactive Academy’s vast center for physical education is expanding to include a larger academic facility.

Interactive Academy, 3796 U.S. 421, has offered preschool and kindergarten classes since it opened 10 years ago. The demand for new enrollments has become so great that classes have been maxed out for the last two years, says Executive Director Barb Weaver.

“We don’t even advertise at this point,” Weaver said. “We’ve been operating on word of mouth.”

Weaver said the idea to expand had been discussed frequently among the board of directors within the last five years, and the building of the new $600,000 wing began this past March. Work was completed quickly to accommodate the opening of the school year on  Aug. 15.
