Commissioner Eaton retires

Zionsville —

Current and former Boone County Commissioners who attended a reception honoring Charles Eaton (seated, center) Monday, Dec. 17, after his last meeting included Owen Hansen (front, left); Wendy Brant; (back, from left) Lebanon Mayor Huck Lewis; Commissioner Marc Applegate; former commissioner Larry Fry; former commissioner Byron Loveless; Commissioner Jeff Wolfe and former commissioner Bob Guernsey.

Eaton, who has served 19 years as a county councilman and is concluding his second term as a commissioner, chose not to run again. “I’ve really enjoyed working with you,” said Commissioner Marc Applegate. “I look at you as a mentor.” Commissioner Jeff Wolfe said, “We appreciate all your years of service.”

“I’ve enjoyed it thoroughly,” Eaton said. “The highlights greatly exceed the few lowlights. I want to give particular acknowledgment to my wife, whose been very supportive. I’ve enjoyed it and have no regrets at all.”

Sheriff Ken Campbell presented Eaton with a certificate of participation and declared him an honorary Boone County Sheriff.
