Three Boone County legislators listened to what’s on the hearts and minds of Boone County residents Saturday morning, Feb. 16, at the legislative breakfast at Witham Memorial Hospital.
Indiana Senator Phil Boots (R-District 23) and Indiana House Representatives Jeff Thompson (R-District 28) and Dr. Tim Brown (R-District 41) spoke to a group of residents that filled Witham’s community room Saturday — they even had to bring in extra chairs — in an event sponsored by the Indiana Farm Bureau and the Boone County Chamber of Commerce.
“This is an excellent time for you to have face-to-face contact with legislators,” said Bob Guernsey, of the farm bureau. “They’re on our turf.”
Representative Brown spoke for the majority of the time since he is the chairman of the ways and means committee, which is the chief tax-writing committee and originates all revenue bills. Brown was first elected in 1994 and has recently been chosen to lead this committee.
