In two years, Boone County voters may find it easier to cast ballots, but there will be “sticker shock” from the preparations, Boone County Clerk Penny Bogan said.
The county election board has decided to create “vote centers” for the 2014 election, Bogan said.
“It’s the same concept as satellite voting, which has gone over wonderfully in the Zionsville area,” she said. At a satellite site, voters from anywhere in the county can cast ballots for races in their districts.
While vote centers means voters won’t have to travel to a specific precinct and can instead go to a central location that may be closer to their home or job, it will require “a chunk of money to get it started,” Bogan said.
