Two Boone County officers were honored recently for acts of bravery the night of the stage collapse at the Sugarland Concert at the Indiana State Fair.
Boone County Deputy Sam Scott and Jail Corrections Officer Justin Fuston were named Deputy Sheriff of the Year and Jail Officer of the Year respectively for their actions after the accident at the concert Aug. 13, 2011. They were presented the awards at the Indiana Sheriff’s Association Annual Conference President’s Dinner July 28 in Indianapolis.
“It was a proud moment to see these deserving young deputies acknowledged for their life saving efforts at the Sugarland Concert at the Indiana State Fair,” Boone County Sheriff Ken Campbell said. “Having said that, any award we may be able to present is humbled by what they did that night, off duty and in another jurisdiction, impacting peoples’ lives forever.”
