McCarter’s celebrate 65th wedding anniversary

Charles W. and Ruth McCarter of Zionsville, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Dec. 1, 2010.

The couple met in San Francisco in the fall of 1945 on a blind date. They married on Dec. 1, 1945 in Carson City, Nev. before Charles was shipped out ot the pacific in World War II.

Ruth and Charles are the parents of Barbara Steinmetz of Zionsville, Charles J. of Fishers, and the late Mark McCarter of Jamestown. Jane Maxwell McCarter of Jamestown and Melanie Moore McCarter of Fishers are the couples daughters in law. They are the proud grandparents of Chris McCarter Frazer and her husband Ron of Avon; Jennifer McCarter Collins of Jamestown; David Collins of Jamestown; Megan Steinmetz Fisher and her husband Darin Fisher of Speedway; and James and Emily McCarter of Fishers. They also have five great-grandchildren, Brittnee Collins, Kaylee Collins, Lilly Frazer, Sarah Frazer and Jack W. Fisher.

On Dec. 4, a family dinner celebration was hosted by their daughter at Maggiano’s Little Italy to make the occasion.

  • Voorhis’ celebrate 60 years

    Mr. and Mrs. Alan Voorhis observed their 60th wedding anniversary Friday, June 22.

    They were married in the United Brethren Church in Warsaw by Rev. Otice I. Uncapher. Their witnesses were Mr. and Mrs. William C. Ellis, of Noblesville.

    Mr. and Mrs. Harold (Jim) James celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Friday, June 22.

    The couple was married on June 22, 1952, in West Burlington, Iowa.

    Mrs. James Brother, the Reverand C.W. Richardson, officiated.

    They are the parents of Steven, Rebecca and Robert and have seven grandchildren.
